Three more reasons why I hate Jeremiah's opponent

Things are getting crazy over here.

So the main reason I allowed Jeremiah to run for delegate is to kick out our idiot delegate, Dwyer. This guy is a total tool. If you google him, you see that he hasn't passed ANY bills the whole time he's been in office, he is proud to say that he only is there to focus on making gay marriage illegal, and he has no idea what he's doing (see tons of examples, and my favorite- trying to impeach the Attorney General for saying that in his legal opinion, MD would have to recognize DC's gay marriage couples since THAT'S HOW IT WORKS! Dwyer had no power to call for impeachment of the attorney general and no reason too- freedom of speech! Even after everyone politely explained all this and more to him, he still ranted and raged against the guy bc he's a tool.).

Anyhow, so this guy has the most political signs up BY FAR and if you know enough to look carefully, there are far less supporters behind the signs than there are numbers of signs. For example, he has supporters who own many businesses so each one gets lots of signs, and he rents space to put up his signs and puts his signs in front of abandoned buildings and houses. Dishonest, but not illegal. Until now.

First it was all the Dwyer signs lining the sides of the highways and under overpasses and along ditches beside buildings. Wow- he has a lot of support! Oh wait, from who? From the median strip? No- he doesn't have a lot of support. He just put up a lot of illegal signs.

And they're seriously sturdy signs too. Some look like tree houses without the tree. So you'd have to come prepared with a big truck and some tools to take those signs down. Technically, it's the county's job to clean those up since they're illegal, but the county has better things to do. I think we should do it but Jeremiah reminds me of the other 100 things I have to do.

Plus Jeremiah doesn't want anyone to see us and get the wrong idea and then it becomes a thing. Because even though we're in the right, the truth never gets out about these things. All anyone would hear is that we were suspected of unethically removing an opponent's sign and that would be the end of it. I tell Jeremiah, we should put our signs up too! Lord knows we have enough!!!!! But Jeremiah wants to take the high road on this. Of course. And so does every other candidate. But still- Dwyer has won this office twice. Maybe we should fight him on his level so he doesn't win again!

Another thing is that people are still messing with each other's signs. Sign stealing yes, but the big ones are harder to steal. The other democrat that is running with/against Jeremiah and we're friendly with, he has a big sign on Mountain Rd near where I teach yoga. Last week I saw a huge truck with a gigantic cab backed up right in front of that sign, totally blocking it from view. I chuckled. But this week that truck is still there. Someone totally just parked it there to be mean. Dude!

And the worst thing that I've seen this election so far is Dwyer again. The Teacher's Union endorsed certain candidates and gave them apple ballots to pass out that list all the ones that got the endorsement. They also gave them all stickers that say "Teacher Recommended" to put on their signs. I know this because Jeremiah was one of the ones endorsed! Hurray!

Anyhow, Dwyer was not endorsed. He was not endorsed by anyone that endorsed Jeremiah (Teachers Union, AFI-CLO Workers Union, Sierra Club, Maryland Gazette, The Capital newspaper). But somehow he got ahold of that "Teacher Recommended" sticker and he was out at the polling station, waving one of his signs with that sticker on it! Jeremiah and the other candidates there were obviously dismayed at his lack of ethics but I am not surprised. This guy is totally slimey. Anyhow, Jeremiah's campaign manager (second wife) took a picture of him with his ill-gotten sticker and I think she's going to send it to the Teachers Union.

I said Jeremiah should put it on his blog (which is linked to the papers) and show the world but Jeremiah said something about taking the high road and yadda yadda.

Grrrrrr.... I really hope this guy doesn't represent me again.

  1. Comment: It turns out that he had special "Teacher Recommended" Stickers made up to look just like the real ones- identical in every way, except that in very fine print on the bottom, it said "Homeschool Teachers."

One of our volunteers is a local homeschool teacher and she says she did not endorse that in any way and doesn't know if it's possible to get that endorsement since they are not unionized like school teachers.

He is such a jerk. Jeremiah's brother said to Dwyer "I didn't know you were on the apple ballot." and Dwyer grumpily grumbled "It's different teachers." Oh, how could we have possibly made that mistake? Cheater.
