Making Strawberry Jam

Last weekend our favorite family, the Jauquets, joined me and the kids for a Masonville program and then we all donned Chiappelli campaign tshirts and went to a local festival for the day. It was an awesome day and after they went home, my family topped off the evening with a Strawberry Jam Making Party!

To kick off the party, Leah and Julie entertained the girls with ukelele songs and some pajama dancing! The girls were so enamored with Leah- you'd have thought she was a superstar!

After bedtime, Olivia, Julie, Heather, and I went to work on bags and bags of frozen strawberries from my garden. Thank goodness I had help bc it was a big job!

This is making the jam on the left and boiling the full jars on the right. We made several dozens of jars and then had to stop bc we ran out of some supplies. There's still one batch of strawberries left to process sometime in the future and I hope I have helping hands again!

Ta Da! Do not take your jam for granted.
A lot of work went into it, from planting, to care, to harvest, to jamming!

  1. Been there, done that. Jam making goes much faster with more hands. Wish I was there to sample some!

  2. So much work, and so worth the effort! I've never grown my own berries, but BH (Before Holden), we'd go strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry picking, and then make jams and can them for use as holiday gifts. Lots of work, lots of sticky mess, but sooo good. Enjoy!

  3. Wow, I'm so impressed that after a full day of teaching, campaigning, and playing you still had energy to make jam! I was so wiped out that I went straight to bed. HA! We might have to have breakfast with you one morning so we can try your jam. Yum!
