By the time I rewoke for the day, it had started snowing and that cancelled all of our plans for the day. Jeremiah was going to walk door to door again but people would think he was crazy if he did that in the snow (plus it would suck). Instead, we took 2 hour shifts with the kids- alternating playing with kids with getting other work done. I finished my second grant application for J.'s preschool during those shifts! Jeremiah made some phone calls regarding his fundraiser and did more database organizing. And the kids had a nice day but they were very tired. We let them make a lasagna with me and then watch part of a movie before bed, so they got to bed a tad bit late. We hoped that would mean they would sleep in!
J. crawled into bed with us in the middle of the night again but we all went back to sleep until C. woke up at 7:30am. This counts as sleeping in for us!
Today I woke with a headache (maybe the wine last night?) so when Jeremiah got up, I once again went back to bed for a bit. Then we all went out to shovel snow. We got about 6 inches but it was too light to build anything or sled or anything. So we just shoveled and played for awhile until the kids got cold.
I got another nap at nap time and J. crawled into bed with me and actually took a nap too! This was great news because by then it was time to get showers and clean up before our Playgroup Sleepover!
Only 2 families from our playgroup ended up coming but we all know each other well so it was a lot of fun. After pizza and playtime, we did popcorn and stories, then got the kids crazy again by letting the daddies toss them around. Finally, we turned out all the lights and gave the kids glow bracelets and let them explore from room to room. They seemed thrilled and I was surprised that no one seemed scared! The kids got to bed an hour late, which might mean another "late" morning tomorrow! (fingers crossed!)
Best Moment of the Day: The Playgroup Sleepover was perfect (where no one slept and they definitely all had to go home at bedtime).
Worst Moment of the Day: Headache. It's still here. It never left. I don't think it was the wine. I hope I'm not getting sick! That's my only issue.
Thoughts of the Day: We did some chatting about meal planning, as it relates to energy, time, budget, and weight watching. These are all important things to consider. I always really really want to plan my weekly meals. I'd love to be so awesome that I could prepare them ahead of time and then we'd have elaborate tasty meals all week without my needing to ignore the kids each night to get them made! I'd love to never waste food (though it helps that anything that goes bad can still be fed to the chickens. Except, of course, for chicken.). I'd love to make food from scratch and therefore be productive and creative and talented and cost effective. And I'd really love to lose weight by doing that.
But somehow, I never find time to research meals and make the grocery list and then get the groceries in time and then make them. Or at best I'll do it for one meal each shopping trip. Maybe when I no longer work so much I'll have time and energy to do it. (yeah right) Or maybe I'll just kick back a little longer and then step all this up once I have a working garden and weekly farmers market hauls to plan recipes with. Yes, there we go- that's what I'm waiting for.
