One Breath at a Time

I spent the whole week living by a to-do list, sectioned in time increments of 1/4 days.  If it wasn't in my time block, I didn't do it.  This meant that I was getting things done but when I finished, I finished. I didn't move on to the next thing, even if I had time, unless it was in that time block.

This left me with a bit of extra time here and there throughout the days and nights this week.  It was good. I didn't do much with that time and that's the whole point.  Most importantly, I didn't worry about anything unless I had that scheduled (and I did. I scheduled in future planning times. but when that time block ended, I left that worry behind like a master yogi.).  It was the most anal week, but it helped me get back in control of my life.

Best Moment of the Day: C. was tired and clingy tonight which is weird bc we had a great day together. It was even her morning to have yoga class with mommy (we took J. to her Aunt's house).  So a quality time day, for sure. But she wanted more, more, more!  So tonight I put on a good cd, gave J. a coloring book, and slow danced with C. for several songs in the kitchen.  She hugged my neck the whole time.  She recharged my soul with that love!

Another good thing- I got a cool silent auction donation today from a local seller of rain barrels! (um, it's a rain barrel.)  And the local yoga studio and a local dance studio left me messages that they're willing to talk to me about doing my classes at their locations- a big change from the "conflict of interest" conversations I had been having!  Doors are opening for me again!

Worst Moment of the Day: Potty training regression. Again. Possibly related to the string of night time accidents, more evident by a lack of pull-ups.  I don't care so much about the accidents as I do about the laundry and bed changes and baths (ie. work) that I have to do because of them.  It's these times that I see my role as parent as more of indentured servitude than as caregiver/role model.  I'm glad it's the weekend and therefore Jeremiah's problem. (surprise, hon!)

Thoughts of the Day:  I started a Seed Ordering Cooperative with a few friends. The seeds finally arrived today! I ordered them from www.seedsavers.org  because I'm looking to raise garden vegetables from seeds this year and I want to use mainly heirloom and organic varieties. There are many reasons for this, especially to protect genetic diversity, to protest genetically modified vegetables, and to ensure that I will be able to save the seeds from these vegetables and that they will naturally grow the following year (as opposed to standard seeds from most seed companies that are engineered not to reproduce).

Anyhow, I posted on facebook and asked if anyone would be interested in going in on some seeds with me.  Each seed packet holds more seeds than I would want to plant in my garden.  So rather than waste the extra seeds (since they may or may not last another year), why not split a packet with a friend? We could pick which variety of each plant that we want!

And I could help out by raising some of the seedlings in my house and then handing them off, or  maybe someone else would want to raise another kind and we could just switch seedlings so I don't have to do separate care for every type of seed. We even made it as simple as if someone wanted to order their seeds from Seed Savers Exchange, even if no one else wanted to split them, they could just combine their order with ours and we could all split the cost of shipping.

We did all of that and now I have a great list of seeds- some that I wanted and some that I'm giving a go bc it looks interesting and someone else wanted it.  I'm excited to start planning the garden and growing the seeds! It makes us that much closer to spring!

By the way, If you'd like to see a list of seed companies that have pledged to sell Organic Seeds, go to: http://www.seedalliance.org/index.php?page=Seed_Companies_Selling_Organic_Seed
