- Working last weekend was a bust- no one showed up for two programs but I had to get everything planned, prepared, and set up anyhow and then hang around just in case. Bummer.
-We had a goodbye dinner with Jeremiah's folks and Grandmother as they head back to SC until March. Their presence, advice, food, help, and babysitting will be greatly missed until then!
-J. started back at preschool and I had a turn as the working parent in her classroom. My go-to free babysitters were all out of commission so I actually had to pay a sitter to watch C. so I could go volunteer! I hope this won't be a pattern until March (see above paragraph for relief).
-I hosted 2 daytime events at my house which took a lot of planning.
-We needed a repair man for our hot water heater. No problem with the solar part, just with the old hot water heater. Figures.
-I coordinated a Goodbye Party for my friend Kate and that actually took a lot of time with correspondences. She's worth the effort though- I'm very sad to see her move! After the dinner out (which was yummy), we played games at a friend's house until 1:30am. Fun but exhausting.
-We had a small snow this week- just enough to make my driveway treacherous but not enough to make a snowman. Kids = Disappointed.
-Our car had to go in for repair bc of problems in the car computer. The crappy shop charged us over $100 to say they tried something but if it doesn't work (it didn't), we should take it to the dealership. So that logistical hurdle was for nothing. We haven't even begun tackling taking it to the dealer bc we just don't have time for that!
-I skipped out of work today bc I woke up sick. Still sick. Mostly sinus-y. Go Sudafed!
-I did lots of work on Jeremiah's campaign fundraiser which was time consuming. But my part is almost over.
-My yoga classes start next week! I'm excited and nervous and not ready yet. Not a lot of people have signed up for each class so I might have to postpone some. I'm going to give it until Monday to make any decisions.
-I planned our weekends until April. I work on weekends, so it was mostly work related, but to do that I had to schedule our trips and parties too. Time really flies when you do that!
Best Moment Lately: I finished all 4 Twilight books. I was part way through book 2 a week ago. I have no free time so how did I do all that reading? It took a little less sleep and a little more dvd watching from the kids, but we made it. I'm glad we did. I enjoyed listening to Jeremiah's irritation when I shared what was going on in the book, plus his imitation of an angsty teenage vampire.
Worst Moment Lately: The children are dog-tired. We can not get them to get more sleep even though it's obvious that they need it. It's like the holidays got them all jazzed up and off schedule and they're still awake just in case we do it again. I hope to take down the Christmas decorations tomorrow. Maybe that will help.
Thoughts of the Day: The campaign is off to a rocky start for THE BIG YEAR. Jeremiah has been to many meetings, someone else's fundraiser (for networking), and planning the social calendar for the year. This is good. He held his Campaign Committee meeting tonight and not everyone showed up, which is not good. Of course Jeremiah isn't letting that sink in or make any impact on him (which is good) but it makes me frustrated when I know he's counting on someone's help and they don't even call.
There's been a lot of that lately- people saying they're coming but then not showing up (for our holiday party, stuff at work, and the Party I just coordinated). What is up with that? I often wonder if I'd have better turn outs for things if I concentrated my efforts and only hosted a very few things per year. Like, maybe people think it's no big deal to skip this one- they'll catch the next one. Maybe my karma is slipping bc I think I've started to say Yes and then No to more things lately. (but at least I give notice!) My problem is that my first answer is always YES! and I need to say NO more often. Could that be everyone else's problem too? Or do I throw really lame get-togethers?
Anyhow, another good thing with the campaign is that our first fundraiser is moving along swimmingly. It's A Black Tie Gala (technically that's optional, but I like the idea of lots of glam) on February 13th, 7pm-10pm. More to follow shortly since that's almost a month away! Yikes!
