C. was up so early that she needed a morning nap around the time that I was finally awoken from my morning-to-sleep-in. So I left her home with her daddy to nap (they both napped) and grabbed J. instead. I bribed her with promises of "adventures" and took her on errand after errand on our journey to Masonville. (I save up trips to conserve gas so that whenever I do head out, I end up making an epic journey.)
Today's Masonville program was advertised throughout the city, like all the others, and I also listed it with my MOMS Club as a Family Fun Day. Good thing, because the city had other plans and the only program participants were my MOMS Club friends! As always, the kids were adorable, J. loved having a special "froggy fun party" with her little friends, and I'm glad at least someone showed up!
Afterwards, we went out to lunch with some friends and C. and Jeremiah met up with us. J. was exhausted by then but she wouldn't stand for a nap when we got home. I laid down in her room to enforce "stay in your bed and close your eyes. A nap will come." She stepped over my sleeping body within minutes and played quietly while I napped. Doh. When C. woke up from her second nap, we dragged J.'s still-tired body into the car.
Headed out for a photo shoot for Jeremiah's website. Action shots will come in time. We had to do the headshot kind of photos. Very cheesy. Very difficult to take seriously. I think I got maybe 2 good ones out of him. That's enough for now.
Then over to the Glen Burnie Carnival. Holla!
Jeremiah volunteered at a booth staffed by Democrats (benefitting the Glen Burnie Improvement Association). I took the girls around to go on rides. I expected timidity, maybe even tears, judging from past similar situations. Instead, they were both wildly excited about going on every ride. C. is only 16 months old so the only thing she got on without me was the ride with the little cars that go on a track in a slow circle. She rode it three times with J. She was popping out of her seat and laughing loudly and waving wildly. It was so awesome to be able to make her so happy! At the end, we got cotton candy, picked up Daddy, and then rode some rides as a family.
We got home way after bed time, then Jeremiah and I watched a few netflix episodes of "Eureka". What a great day!
Now today the kids were still overtired so we took the day off. Playing around the house, taking naps (everyone!) and reading lots of books. We went swimming at Jeremiah's parents' house for a few hours, but otherwise we just relaxed at home. For us to do a lot of nothing is Xtreme Weekend Relaxing!!!!
Best Moment of the Day: After the kids went to bed, Jeremiah and I enjoyed a backyard campfire together. We talked about all of the exciting things we see happening for us in the next few years. Life is so much fun!
Worst Moment of the Day: Poop accident. (not me) That's never fun.
Thoughts of the Day:
As a follow-up to the previous post, I took my do-nothing day today to read about 8 issues of celebrity gossip magazines from the spring, courtesy of Heather. Already I've decided that US Weekly is a snarky magazine and I don't like it. It's like if US Weekly makes an enemy (re: Kate from John and Kate Plus 8), they use rude implications about her with every issue. And if they like someone (re: possibly have a lucrative relationship with her publicist, re: Jessica Simpson), they cover her every insignificant career move in a positive light with every issue.
I read a simultaneous issue of People magazine that ran the same story as US Weekly and they did it with two very different tones. People magazine seemed to give people (re: Kate) the benefit of the doubt and use more of her own words and less of their "observations" and "inside sources".
Which is not to say that one is truer than the other. But must gossip be so mean-spirited? I'd like a little less judgements along with insight into celebrities' personal lives. I'm having an overdose of this right now and it makes me regret being a part of it.
