Scheduling

We're steadily chipping away at all the chores and cleaning and household projects that built up while I was at Yoga Training.  It's too tiring to think about. I had to spread it over a 4 day to-do list to get it all done. Here's hoping!  And we got my car's brakes repaired, so I'm glad that's over with.

I also had a chance to sit down and try to plan the fall. This is usually a great time for me. I like putting all the fall social events and anything notable on the calendar. I like having things to look forward to, especially as I get sad that one great season is ending. There will never be another summer 2009. My kids will never have another summer of being 3 and 1.  It's sad to me. So I plan like crazy for the next season to help get over the loss.

The campaign is definitely affecting our calendar now. Jeremiah respected my request for good pre-planning and so we have tons on the calendar from Sept until Dec.  He's going to his usual meetings, plus things for the 3 different Democrat clubs in the area, plus making rounds in the local community association meetings. If you saw our calendar, you'd probably puke. There's a lot going on.

I'm making a sacrifice this fall. I'm not enrolling in any evening classes for the first time in over 3 years (probably more).  I usually do Bioaerobics 2 nights a week, hosted by Rec and Parks, held at a local school that I can walk or bike to from my house. It's my only routine exercise. And sometimes I add on or switch it up with yoga classes. But I need to be home with the kids so Jeremiah can be out campaigning.  In the evenings doing the dinner shift and/or bedtime routine is really the worst time to consider a babysitter so that's not an option either.

I'm also feeling stress about our calendar when it comes to the weekends. I work on the weekends but I'm going to be so busy during the week that I think I'll need the weekends to catch up on house projects and get to sleep in!  As always, I'm not sure how on Earth I'll get in 30 hours of work each week in addition to all the other stuff I'm doing.  I love what I do, it's not that. It's that I love other things more and so I'm only sticking with this bc of the paycheck and benefits.  Again, it's "it's not you, it's me."

Best Moment of the day:
The kids and I really missed each other. We had a really great day just reading books and playing games and hanging out.

Worst Moment of the day:
Ants. Invading the living room. A huge stream of them. And some of them were getting entangled in the fuzzy parts of the rug. EW. Way worse than a steady stream across a hardwood floor is a writhing mass within layers of fabric. EW.

Thoughts of the day:
We have been watching way more tv now that we're watching dvds of LOST from netflix.  We used to take a week to watch all 3 of our netflix. Maybe we'd roll a little faster if Jeremiah was renting real crap that I didn't have to watch (which in my opinion was often).  And the only shows we ever watched regularly on tv were  The Simpsons and Arrested Development (remember that one? good times.).

LOST has ruined us. Since we started watching Season 1 in the spring, we've been watching 2 hours of tv each night that we have a dvd, which is pretty much constantly.  We're now half-way through Season 4 and it's awesome. These are hours well spent.

But I'm so glad that the end is in sight. I need to go to bed earlier! But by the time we end Season 5 on dvd, it'll be almost time for Season 6 to air on tv. And then we'll have a new issue on our hands. We'll have to watch it on tv like everyone else (commercials and waiting a week and everything. doh.) and we'll have to put in on our calendar to be sure that we don't miss it (life without tivo). But at least we'll have more evening time again!

  1. We use this funny little contraption called a VCR. It's sort of like tivo, but a little different. You can still find them in antique stores. My grandmother had one.

  2. This happened when Herb and I had to catch up on Season 1 of True Blood. We lost hours of sleep and valuable conversation time a night for a solid month and I think I gained 5 lbs. But I feel much more prepared now for the inevitable culture clash of humans and vampires, which we are certainly bound for any moment.
