Lake House Trip= Success!

This year's trip to the Lake House came at the best possible time.  We left Friday afternoon and got back on Sunday night. It felt so good to relax with old friends that it makes my heart ache missing it.  

Each family was assigned a meal to plan and shop for and then cook when the time came. We all took turns cleaning up and watching the kids. The Lake House is spectacular and this year's addition was a fully stocked and awesome kids' room!  We swam and kayaked in the lake, played at the playground, napped, and just hung out.  We let the kids have late nights together and then sleep in a heap for a sleepover. After they went to bed, no one had the steam to play games or get drunk like we usually do (this was our 5th year going here) but we all just talked instead and went to bed reasonably early (12 or 1). No need to "hang" when we're all in the same boat.  I really needed to feel unconditionally accepted for a little while, and see that Jeremiah is too. It's good to put a little distance between us and our everyday lives right now!
