Birthday Party!

Happy 4th Birthday my darling J!  We rocked her birthday like it was Christmas.  Big major party with the theme "March Fourth and Be Creative!" So we had facepainting and paper painting and craft projects, along with cupcakes and cake and pizza for J's playgroup friends on her birthday.  She had an excellent time!  I had fun too!

Then one of her friends spent the rest of the day with us, which was special and fun.  And that night we met a few of her friends and their parents at a local restaurant  for Kids Eat Free night.  They had a guy that made balloon animals for everyone while we waited for our food. It was fun but it was also a 2 hour affair and everyone, kids and adults, expired before we got our check.  It felt like the end of a marathon day.

The day before her birthday was a marathon of fun too.  At 9:30am we had our family yoga class and then straight afterwards I took the girls to the Severna Park Community Center's open swim at the indoor pool.  This is the second week in a row for that and they've progressed from clinging to my face, to proto-swimming around with water wings and noodles.  We're so proud of them for trying so hard!  I guess it's my own swim classes for them- on our time, with me as teacher, and with the decent pricetag of generic swim passes.  I'm excited to keep it up all spring until Jeremiah's parents open their backyard pool for our use this summer!

Then that day, after yoga class and swimming, we went home for a short nap and then I took them to a free demo class for Music Together, an awesome kid-music class.  I was so impressed with my girls at this class. I thought for sure that after their long day, plus their characteristic shyness, they would cling to me and whine and cry and we might even have to leave early (since it starts at 6pm and they go to bed at 7pm anyhow).  But instead, they were awesome! They were PARTICIPATING!  They were singing along (well, mostly J. was) and dancing along and playing the instruments well and clapping along and everything.  I was so proud of them!  I would totally enroll them in that class if only we could fit it into our schedule and it didn't cost so much.  Plus now the girls are doing two yoga classes per week plus our self-taught swim lessons.  So we're busy now.

Best Moment of the Day: Today we had another yoga class and it was so much fun! Several new students and the class dynamics look promising.  My girls were very well behaved which helps so much!

Worst Moment of the Day: Before yoga I had to take the kids with me to pick up a signed paper from work so that I could mail in another grant application for work.  We had to squeeze that drive in first thing in the morning so I was running late before I even woke up.  Jeremiah helped us get out of the house and took care of the chickens so that I could get going.

Thoughts of the Day: Birthday celebrations are not over. We still have the family party for her birthday on Sunday.  Between now and then there is so much more to do!
