Today's moments

best moment of the day: after work I took C. and J. for a stroller ride over to the community beach and we played in the water and sand. It was a nice de-stresser for me and they were crazy for the water. They were crawling on all fours in the water- they got soaked!

worst moment of the day: the floor under C.'s chair at the kitchen table. Working two days in a row means that the house doesn't get a break from kids and doesn't have me around to be constantly wiping and sorting and reshelving. Tonight at dinner I watched as C. put more food on the floor. On top of her lunch. And her breakfast. And (really gross) a bit of yesterday's food too. God that's sick. That's why I need to keep my kids spaced at least 2 years apart- when I'm pregnant I have an even stronger aversion to leftover food and babies are just so gross about that. But this is just my natural aversion talking here and I was really grossed out. (you probably are too. we really don't usually live like animals. it's just that we weren't here to clean up so give me a break!) I stealthily avoided it by packing for several hours and then just when I was ready to give in, Jeremiah cleaned the kitchen floor instead. Nice.

thoughts of the day: how the frick are we going to handle taking a one year old and a three year old on a 5 hour plane flight and then a 3 hour car ride and then sleeping with a three hour time difference and then visiting the Grand Canyon in the desert in the summer? Frick.
and also...
I'm so excited to be going to Arizona! I'm going to see the Grand Canyon at sunrise (your photos are so inspirational, Jenny!), going to see lots of ancient dwellings, and spend some good time hiking around on red rocks. The more energy-filled metaphysical vortex, the better. I'm ready for some loving energy from the earth! Holla!

  1. If it makes you feel better, I recently pulled out Loki's old highchair and there are bits of food (I think a naturally produced raisin) still stuck inside places that I can't/won't scrub into... Also, this is why we have a dog. It is the BEST reason we have a dog.
