Slow thoughts on a snow day

We consolidated the children into one room, which was just a diversionary tactic for surviving a long, cold weekend at home together. One bedroom is larger than the other so that's where they both live now.  Their beds are separated by just a few feet so it's very cozy. They talk for hours after lights out until we stop them.  It's adorable but they don't sleep later just because they go to bed later so we really need them to be quiet and go to sleep!  The other bedroom is now the Toy Room, which wasn't necessary to fit everything, but was a good choice just for moving things around and thus making them appear new and exciting. We always figured they'd share a room one day but there's no need for it now. Then again, why not? So we did.

School is now in full force on Mondays and Wednesdays which means that I need Tuesdays and Thursdays to recover. I need to have a nap on those recovery days and my brain is mush and I'm focused on when I'm going to get my flash cards made, etc. So although I'm only in school two days a week, it has the effect of being full time. As always, I blame the children (all 3 of them!).  Talking with my lab partners, they get a lot of their studying done while they're at work, once again reinforcing that being an at-home mom can be at times even more demanding than going to work every day.

Today is a snow day, after the amazing thunder-lightning-snow combo of last night.  I'm doing school work from home, Jeremiah's working from home, and the kids are playing so well together upstairs.  We're all here but we're all in our own little worlds.  This new strategy of staying at home as much as possible is a big change and some days like today I have a suspicion that it's letting time drift by.  Maybe that's because my present life is in a transitory place- schooling towards an occupational goal, frugal lifestyle towards summer vacation goals, growing a baby, planning a garden, etc.

Today's goal: make a snowman family with my family.
