Taught my first Tots and Tykes classes. They went well, I think, and I had a lot of fun. I've now got a list of things I want to work on and I'm really glad that these classes are just practices. The best part is that J. and C. were each in class with me and they did so awesome! It's got to be weird to hear your mom say "now give your mommy wake up kisses" but your mom is standing right there, not asleep at all. One of my things to work on is to remember to quickly "play mom" for my kids so that they don't get shafted from some of the cool mom-kid bonding things in the classes. But they were both attentive and eager to participate. No issues with having mommy be the teacher at all! And they really do enjoy doing yoga and are developing quite well in their practices. It will be sad as they age out these classes. I'll have to settle for modeling the poses with a babydoll like I do for the baby classes! (my babydoll is named Sophie, by the way. my kids aren't allowed to play with her much since I know they'll get her sticky or something.)
Campaign Update:
It's another night of Animal Planet for me! Jeremiah's off to another campaign activity- tonight is a local Democratic club meeting. So far he hasn't done anything on a weekend but he does spend about half his weekday evenings at stuff. He also meets key players for lunch. I guess it's another way that we got so lucky in making the decision for him to open his own law office! His boss is very flexible about taking long lunches for the campaign! Every night we work a little more on fundraising plans, parade plans, press releases, and strategizing. We received our first non-family campaign donation today! Hooray! We've ordered the t-shirts, banners, signs, and magnets. We're looking at proofs for the business cards. I'm still fishing for slogans to put on our kids' campaign t-shirts (Vote For My Daddy......).
Best Moment of the Day:
Let me start by saying that this Saturday we turned on our downstairs heat for the first time and it wouldn't start. Of course it was cold and rainy all weekend. We baked for warmth! Of course we had house guests on Sunday so we pulled out small heaters to get us back up into the 60s. Today's best moment was when the heating guys fixed the heater and it only cost $150. Sweet. Of course they told me our heater was old as dirt and needs to be replaced (duh). But the sad news is that the best energy efficient heating system is gas powered and we don't have gas hookup at our house. Doh. I hate spending money on something that's less than good.
Worst Moment of the Day:
I was at work today (until I had to work from home so the heat guys could be here). That means that I had to leave the girls with a sitter. It's been a long time since the girls were left regularly with someone other than their Grandma. C. did not like this turn of events. She cried big time when I had to drop her and J. off, and apparently kept crying for the next hour. This is the second day with the new sitter. She's got 1 1/2 more times later this week still to go! I really hope she gets over this soon.
Thoughts of the Day:
My house is rebelling against solar power. That must be it. Since we made the joyous decision to make a go for it with solar panels, we've had a string of house problems jump out at us. The tree that is half dead really should be taken down soon. The roof really needs to be replaced soon so we can button up for winter. The small heater doesn't work. The upstairs shower (that we took apart and meticulously put back together, tile and all) leaks again. The downstairs heater needs replacing. These are all big ticket fixes. Dang it. And just when I thought we were going to be able to touch the golden ring!
"Vote for my Daddy..."
ReplyDelete1) or he'll send us to bed without dinner.
2) And he'll buy us ice cream!
3) And he'll buy you ice cream!
4) or we'll cry!
5) or he'll turn the hose on us...again...
I like these! Thanks James! I think we can do #2 and #4. It might be bad for PR to do #1 and #5. We might need to print a disclaimer to go with #3! Any other ideas, of any kind, are very very welcome!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking "Go Daddy Go!" and a superhero image of Jeremiah with "Vote for my Daddy. He's my hero!" I dunno. I'll take any ideas!
