Recently we hemmed and hawed over attending the Bowie Baysocks minor league baseball game. It was a fundraiser for the Anne Arundel County Young Democrats and sounded relatively family friendly. But it's baseball and you know that we would never normally pay money to drive, then sit in the sun, and watch a long sports game with the children. But it's a good cause and good networking for Jeremiah. But it's near bedtime and it's like a million degrees out nowadays. But at least we could say that we took them once like everyone else around here. But... you see how it went.
Finally, finally, we dropped what we were doing and drove over there, getting sort of lost on the way and whatnot. The guy at the ticket counter says that the event's inside so we had to buy tickets for all of us (lame) and go inside to find the Young Dem gig. Once inside another staffer told us that that event was last night (though further inspection on the website later showed otherwise. But at any rate, we couldn't find anyone we knew and couldn't see a party where we should have gone.).
So we made the best of it with some cotton candy and tickets to the bounce house. In the end, we made it one inning of the ballgame before cutting out for a quick air conditioned dinner (at a more reasonable rate with healthier food) and heading home for bed. So, not what we were planning, but not the worst thing ever.
And then we got the call- we were supposed to have been volunteering at the Green Festival at the County Fair Grounds as representatives of the Children's Museum. Doh! That's right- that was the much better idea for us that day that we should have remembered. It would have been good for the campaign, good for the museum, I could have had my yoga brochures on hand, and I could have brought Masonville stuff along for a display and thus counted that time as work. It takes a very busy schedule to forget something as important as that. Doh.
I feel your pain. I write down all of my scheduled events in my PDA, but I also rely heavily on my memory and sometimes we just get turned around. I think you and I need to re-evaluate our scheduling ;) Still on for Thursday? LOL!
