Please go to www.PasadenaYoga.net even if you already have. It's crazy to me to learn that search engines are popularity contests so sites only show up when you search for them if they've had a decent amount of hits. My website is totally brand new so it has close to zero hits and close to zero searchability. Not great for business. Then I learned that you have to register your site with each search engine, which may take several weeks to process. And even then they might not register it! You can pay for the priviledge of coming up on search engines, but I'm not about to do that yet! This has to be built from the ground up, like everything else in my life. And it will take the support of friends and family to make it happen. Again, like everything else.
Anyhow, Julie did my website for me and she's going to train me how to do it myself in a few days. Karen took the photos. I had to use some of the official Itsy Bitsy Yoga wording, but mostly, I wrote it myself. So I don't take full credit for the website. Just the classes.
Friday is my last free class of Itsy Bitsy Yoga (it's one for babies- the other classes have already ended). I'll be sad to see it go bc I really do love teaching it and there's a nice safety net of low expectations when you're offering a class for free. When I start up for real I have to be prepared to bring even more energy and love and special tricks to each class. I've already started the preparations! I'm really nervous. I hope people sign up!
Best Moment of the Week:
I don't want to self-incriminate here, but let's just say that we upgraded our home technology so that we now have cable tv, cable internet, and a telephone landline for my Grandmother when she moves in with us next year.
The internet is much faster and much more reliable. Plus they were so much nicer to work with than Verizon! Whew!
They persuaded me to try an upgraded cable package for free for 6 months. It came with a big cable router and a big fancy remote. We tried it for a full 5 days and then when someone from the company came back to finish installing the phone line, we sent him home with that stuff. No more trial package for us. It was an obligation to make use of all those channels. Like that Friends episode where they get free porn on their tv and end up leaving it on 24/7 because they didn't want to be the guys that turned off free porn. So we cut ourselves free. It's back to good old PBS for us- my kids don't NEED Noggin! And although I appreciated the Green Channel, it's better for the environment for me to keep the tv off and read about eco trends instead!
Worst Moment of the week:
I don't want to hold onto this negative energy and I need to be more productive than to take time dwelling on it here. But I'll just quickly say that I'm starting to take it personally when our local paper only focuses on the republican candidates currently holding office and don't acknowledge any of the other candidates. They did not publish Jeremiah's press release and the only politicians that they mentioned in regards to the parade were guess who? They showed photos of one of the current republican candidates with his float and participants, but our float and our number of participants beat the pants off of his! Yeah, now it's personal. I went through a lot to make a splash with that parade. I used to give the paper the benefit of the doubt, that the only reason they give a TON of name mentions and photos of the current republican candidates are because there was no one else on the political scene to report on (though that's still a very huge amount of press...). But now that's not true anymore. What are we supposed to do- start our own local paper? With our extra time?
Thoughts of the Day:
I took my first solar-powered hot shower last night. I'm still warmed by that thought.
